Property of the Month: Court House Manor

Court House Manor offers a unique and luxurious bed-and-breakfast experience as well as exclusive use options. Located in Painswick, Gloucestershire set in the heart of The Cotswolds, Court House Manor is a stunning 16th-Century manor house set in 4 acres of pristine gardens.

This recently refurbished Grade I listed home maintains all of the character of yesteryear. Stepping inside the building you can enjoy the architectural aspects of a 16th-Century building, but one also filled with the luxuries of the 21st-Century. The ancient history of the building is reinforced by the impressive exterior, built from locally mined mellow Cotswold stone.

The interior features hidden staircases and a myriad of rooms all worth exploring. There are beautiful historical artefacts in nearly every room and architectural details that are centuries old. The feeling of grandeur and history is hard to escape. The building was first used as a courthouse in the 16th-Century. The wood-panelled King Charles court room is a reminder of that period in the building’s history.

The exterior gardens are beautiful and suit the building perfectly. There is also a sunken patio, gazebo and sun lounge for guests to use. A path through the garden leads to the nearby church.
Badminton and croquet are also available on the South Lawn. In winter, the outdoor chimney is a favoured destination for À La carte diners.

Court House Manor is well-located, at the top of the Slad Valley, with stunning views across much of the surrounding country-side. Set in the middle of Painswick, it is close to a number of restaurants, gardens, historical sites and pubs. Located nearby are Rococo gardens, Painswick golf club and Gloucester Cathedral. Restaurants include the highly rated “The Falcon Restaurant” and “Cotswold 88”. Nearby activities include horse riding, shooting, racing and shopping at some of the many boutique shops in the area. The annual “Art Couture” art festival is also very popular amongst visitors.

Each bed and breakfast room is beautifully decorated and includes a modern en-suite bathroom. All mod cons are available in the rooms including Wi-Fi, DVD, Freeview television and tea & coffee facilities. Bed and Breakfast guests have full access to various rooms within the manor including the library, kitchen, lobby, chess room and breakfast room.
