Castle Hale in Painswick For Sale

This weeks luxury property for sale in the Cotswolds is located in the beautiful village of Painswick. Recently been the venue for several TV programmes it is truly is a Cotswold Gem!

That said buying a property in a stunning village in the Cotswolds like Painswick does add a few more schillings to the price, so for £2,600,000 you would expect a slightly smaller property than you would find in other locations in the South West. BUT WAIT!

Billed as the ‘Original Manor of Painswick‘ Castle Hale does not skimp on the numbers (see below for full stats), 7 bedrooms for a start and 5 bathrooms should keep the staff busy!

OK it is not to everyones taste, the decor is fitting to the age of the property so if you are looking for neon lit pool tables and booming sound systems we don’t recommend Painswick for you (in fact you might want to look outside of the Cotswolds – I hear London is popular!).

What you do get however is a History (a lot of it), grandeur, large gardens, a swimming pool and all in a stunning village. Not too bad now is it! 🙂

Property Description:

Castle Hale is the original Manor of Painswick and the site has been occupied for nearly a thousand years. The Manor later passed into the hands of the Talbot family, later Earls of Shrewsbury and by the Elizabethan age the house was known as ‘Castle Halle’.

This handsome house is Listed Grade II and, as you would expect of a property of its period, has beautifully-proportioned accommodation.

Castle Hale occupies an excellent setting, tucked away in the heart of Painswick.

This charming and thriving large Cotswold village, known as the ‘Queen of the Cotswolds’, is famous for the fine parish church and the 99 clipped yew trees in the churchyard. Painswick has a range of shops and services, as well as restaurants, pubs and hotels. Sports facilities include rugby and cricket clubs and six floodlit tennis courts.

Castle Hale has an impressive approach via an avenue of lime trees which then open out into the gardens and grounds. A gravelled driveway leads to the side of the house and a double garage which has a log store to the side.

The gardens and grounds lie to the south and west of the house. Planted with a range of mature trees and shrubs, they provide a delightful setting for the house.

There is a paved terrace outside the kitchen and drawing room, beyond which wide lawns sweep down to mixed borders and evergreen hedging. A spring fed water garden is a charming feature, overlooked by a summer house. Leading off from the kitchen is a covered swimming pool with a kitchen garden to the rear.
